Rifle River Onion Bag Project

The Rifle River in Ogemaw and Arenac Counties is the focus of our Onion Bag Project.  At five different river access sites we have white mailboxes stuffed with empty Onion Bags for river users.  The sign explains that the onion bags are provided for user to pack out what they pack in.

Waterproof, tough and able to be tied to a wading belt, kayak or canoe, these onion bags are perfect trash bags on the water. 

 

The onion bags are stocked weekly through the busy months by our dedicated volunteers in an effort to help river users keep this freshwater resource free of garbage,
